We welcome the launch of Ireland's Strategy to Reduce Suicide and Self-harm: Connecting for Life 2026–2035.
This ten-year, whole-of-government plan sets out an ambitious vision for reducing suicide and self-harm through compassionate, person-centred care, something that we at Storm Skills Training are passionate about.

Before reading:
This plan and blog mention topics related to self-harm and suicide, which may potentially lead to distress. Before you continue reading, please check in with yourself. How are you feeling today? If you were negatively impacted or affected who would you contact for support? Support is available from Samaritans, for free, 24/7. Phone 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org.uk.
We're encouraged to see this continued commitment to creating communities, workplaces, and services where people feel supported, valued, and able to access help when they need it. The strategy's whole-of-society approach, and its focus on strengthened crisis supports, trauma-informed practice, and improved access for those most at risk, reflects the collective effort needed to save lives.
We already have the pleasure of working alongside so many wonderful teams and organisations across Ireland, helping to build their skills, confidence, and compassion in suicide and self-harm prevention. As this new strategy moves into action, we hope to support even more teams in the same way. Every person who feels able to reach out, and every person who feels equipped to respond safely and effectively, brings us closer to a future with fewer lives lost to suicide and self-harm.
If your team is looking to build skills, confidence, and compassion in self-harm and suicide prevention, we'd love to hear from you. Visit our training page to find out more, or email us at enquiries@stormskillstraining.com.
